Collaborations
For several years, I served as an instructor at the NIAD Art Center in Richmond, California. I taught textile and fiber arts and crafts in the art program founded by Elias and Florence Ludens Katz. Saul Alegria is a painter in the program, and I admired his renderings of animals, finding them energetic and insightful, using the animal form to express a variety of emotions and attitudes. I also really liked the colors, the graphic quality of the designs, and thought they would make wonderful tapestries. Saul and his family agreed with me and allowed use of Saul's art in my medium of tapestry. Purchase price includes a donation to the NIAD Art Center (www.niadart.org) and a royalty to Saul.
